Civil Hospital Dhudike’s Rashtriya Bal Swasth Karyakarm (RBSK) team has got successfully performed free heart surgery of a government school student from Fortis Hospital Mohali. The student belongs to an expatriate daily wage earner family and his family has thanked the Punjab Government for the timely treatment provided by the Punjab Government.

Patient Student Bikram Singh’s father Vindeshwar Singh said that he was originally from Bihar and his son was only two years old when he started having breathing difficulty while walking. At times, he even stumbled and fell. On the advice of various doctors, he visited many reputed hospitals in Nepal, Purnia, Patna, Panipat, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to get her son treated, but to no avail. On an occasion, he had to flee from a well-known hospital in Delhi with his son at night.

He said that in this dilemma someone told him about the availability of good health facilities in Punjab so he made up his mind to come to Punjab. Hoping for his son’s treatment, he moved to Bughipura village in District Moga and joined a Farmer family for his livelihood. He enrolled his son in the village government school. Meanwhile, one day the RBSK team, under Dr. Simarpal Kaur and Dr Neha Singla, of Civil Hospital Dhudike visited the Government School at village Bhughipura and found Bikram suffering from congenital heart disease. After bringing the matter to the notice of the higher authorities, the heart operation of this student has been successfully performed free of cost from Fortis Hospital Mohali. Now, Bikram has fully recovered from post-surgery conditions.

Senior Medical Officer of CHC Dhudike, Dr. Neelam Bhatia said that under the Rashtriya Bal Swasth Karyakarm of the Health Department Punjab, children from 0 to 18 years of age are screened in Anganwadis and schools for free treatment of 30 deadly diseases. This health check-up looks at birth defects, diseases, physical deficiencies and lack of growth in children. She said that with early detection of the disease it is possible to cure many diseases. So children’s health check-ups are done in schools under care, support and treatment.Manjot Kaur Staff Nurse, Jaswant Singh Pharmacist, Block Educator Lakhwinder Singh and Pharmacy Officer Raj Kumar in the RBSK Dhudike team appealed to the general public to contact RBSK teams immediately if any child has any serious illness.
