Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with Chief Ministers of Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram via video conferencing on the Covid-19 situation in the north east states.Addressing the Chief Ministers, Prime Minister Modi said the government is constantly monitoring every variant of corona virus.He added that experts are constantly studying severity of its mutations as well as its prevention and treatment.Prime Minister Modi expressed concern that even though tourism and businesses are badly affected from COVID pandemic, violating COVID protocols while visiting tourist destinations is completely unacceptable.He added that the central government’s ‘Free Vaccine For All’ campaign is equally important in the North Eastern part of the country.
Thus, we have to keep up the pace of vaccination process to overcome the third wave.The Prime Minister said that the Cabinet has recently approved a new package of Rs.23,000 crore for improving the infrastructure related to COVID testing and treatment.He added that this package will also help every state in the North East to strengthen their health infrastructure.
