“The repeated outbursts of the Navjot Singh Sidhu may be a part of the strategy of the congress poll strategist to give the congress a new face and exploit the religious sentiments of the people of Punjab only to manage to win next elections, but it has nothing to offer the state new to make anything good for it,” alleged Karnail Singh Peermohammad, Taksali-Akali leader and patron All India Sikh Students Federation in a press statement to media today.
“I am very much sure that Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been a former collage of Captain Amarinder Singh ,would be able to do something for the people of Punjab by remaining within congress. If he wants to really serve the state and has some aspirations to do something for the welfare of the state, he should come out of the congress and stand by Punjab,” said Peermohammad.
He accused congress to always playing with the religious sentiments of Punjab to win assembly and parliament elections at suitable times.
He further said that people are closely watching this war of words between captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu who seems to be at loggerheads and are the buzz in the political circles now a days.
While accusing Captain Amarinder Singh playing a political game in connivance with Badals, he also questioned Sidhu’s long silence in politics after he was sidelined by Singh.
But he alleged that this could also be a part of the political strategy of the poll strategist to give the congress a new face only to win elections by exploiting the religious feelings of the Sikh community as Amarinder has nothing to offer to the people of Punjab.
“Captain Amarinder Singh has failed to deliver any justice to the people of the state and Sikh diaspora across the world in sacrilege incident of Bargari and firing incidents of Kotkapura and Behbal kalan as promised in 2017. Rather, in connivance with Badal family, he left the investigation in mess with poorly representing the case in High Court. Sidhu is targeting him on this issue only to shield them.It would do something good or bad for congress only.But it would not serve any purpose for the betterment of Punjab,” Peermohammad said.
Even, Captain Amarinder’s sharp criticism of Sidhu and mocking at the defeat of general JJ Singh also backfired when the general Singh accused Captain of being in hand in gloves with Badals and said that he had lost his conscience.
“In this politically charged atmosphere, the main issue seems to have been lost. Apart from the justice in the firing and sacrilege incidents happened 6 years ago, the Punjab is economically ruined by the congress. The drug addiction is there, farmers are committing suicides and youth is unemployed. But congress party is indulging in a political tussle within only to win next elections,” said Peermohammad.
