Amidst the unprecedented Covid pandemic, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would virtually join the people in offering ‘Ardas’ from his residence on the auspicious occasion of 400th Prakash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib on May 1 (Saturday).

Divulging details of the day-long programme on this historic occasion, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the Gurpurab celebrations would begin from the residence of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Charanjit Singh Channi at Morinda from 11 am with Gurmat Sangeet by Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant followed by Path Sri Anand Sahib, Ardas and Hukamnama at the residence of the Chief Minister at 11:45 am.

Pointing out further the spokesperson said that the Tourism Minister would deliver the welcome address on this momentous occasion from his residence at 12:05 pm to be followed by the Chief Minister’s address at 12:10 pm. Thereafter, the live telecast of special Gurbani Kirtan/Gurmat Sangeet program on various TV channels/digital platforms would begin with Gurmat Sangeet by Bhai Manjit Singh Shant and Dr. Nivedita Uppal followed by Kirtan by Bhai Gagandeep Singh Ganganagar Wale, Bhai Sukhjinder Singh, Bhai Arvinder Singh Noor, Bhai Tar Balbir Singh and Bhai Balwant Singh Namdhari from 12.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

It may be recalled that the executive committee led by Chief Minister set up to oversee the historic celebrations had already decided on April 23 to hold virtual celebrations to commence the historic 400th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib amid the uncertain situation resulting from the continuous surge in Covid cases.

The Chief Minister had also appealed to the people to watch the events on TV and offer ‘Ardas’ from their homes and avoid congregating at the religious places in view of the crisis situation.
