The Bangladesh budget for the Financial Year 2022 has allocated Tk 10,000 crore to meet the emergency requirements arising out of the COVID pandemic in the country. Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal presented the budget in the parliament on Thursday.
The Minister said that the government has also received significant funding from foreign sources including USD 600 million from the World Bank, USD 100 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and USD 100 million from the Asian Infrastructure Bank. The allocation in the health sector has also gone up for FY 2022 with a proposed allocation of Tk 32,731 crore which marks an increase of Tk 3484 over the current year’s budget allocation of Tk 29,245 crore. The health sector has got an allocation of over 7 percent of the total budget of the government of Bangladesh. The amount constitutes 1.3 percent of the GDP of the country.
